The Tomato Art Festival was founded in 2004 by two Nashville locals, Meg and Bret MacFadyen. As the owners of the Art and Invention Gallery, the two decided to plan an event celebrating the tomato. The event became so popular that it immediately became an annual affair in the trendy East Nashville neighborhood. This year, the Tomato Art Fest will be celebrating their 13th annual event on August 12th and 13th. The event is free and located in historic East Nashville’s Five Points. This will be a fun-filled day for all ages with costumes highly encouraged. This event has become increasingly popular with over 60,000 visitors in 2015 alone. There will be a variety of different activities from a parade float and a tomato toss to a faux paw pet fashion show, so there is sure to be something for the whole family.
And if you get hungry, there will be a wide variety of food vendors to choose from including Edley’s Bar-B-Que, The Grilled Cheeserie, Steaming Goat, and Bradley’s Creamery. So be sure to mark your calendars! This is surely an event that you are not going to want to miss.
